Première Magazine's Editor-in-chief, Mathieu Carratier tweeted this morning about Rob and two directors. He said that Rob is set up to work with Werner Herzog and is "spending time" with Harmony Korine.

Ok, real info then: Robert Pattinson is preparing a movie with Werner Herzog.

Since it seems to interest you, I can also tell you that Robert Pattinson has been spending time with Harmony Korine lately.

While we don't have any confirmed details about that information, what we DO KNOW is that Première is a very respectable magazine and the tweets came directly from it's Editor-in-chief. His later tweets show that he doesn't have a lot more info about this movie but hopefully we'll know more soon.

ROB AND CRONENBERG TALKS 'MAPS TO THE STARS' WITH EW

For those of you who don’t get how David Cronenberg would want to work with Robert Pattinson, just look at Breaking Dawn. If Bella’s pregnancy doesn’t count as a prime example of Cronenbergian body horror, then I don’t know what does. And now, it appears that Pattinson and Cronenberg are hoping to pair up once more following their upcoming Cosmopolis. Pattinson confirmed to EW that he’s attached to the director’s long-gestating Maps to the Stars — although he’s not sure when they would begin production. “I don’t know if I’m doing it next,” he says. Cronenberg has stated that he hopes to cast frequent collaborator Viggo Mortensen as well.

The film would be based on a script by novelist and screenwriter Bruce Wagner, who has also written an adaptation of Jonathan Lethem’s novel, As She Climbed Across the Table, for Cronenberg. “It’s about child stars,” says Pattinson of Wagner’s script. “It’s very funny. It’s very, very dark.”

Cosmopolis, which is based on a 2003 Don DeLillo novel, debuted two weeks ago at the Cannes Film Festival.

MORE FROM ROB'S INTERVIEW WITH USA TODAY

On Nov. 18, he'll reprise his role as vampire/new father Edward Cullen opposite Kristen Stewart in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn— Part 2, the final installment in Stephenie Meyer's behemoth series.

But before that, he'll appear in a surreal role as a Wall Street banker in David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis (due in August), which earned a standing ovation for its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.

"I used to think it was a good thing to have a safety net," says Pattinson, 26, of his starmaking Twilight role. "To know you're always safe is not real. It's got to matter."

So after Breaking Dawn, Pattinson will launch into a busy slate of projects that are starting to take shape.

"I have five things going — actually six," he says. "I'm pretty sure I know which one is going to be first."

That would be Mission: Blacklist (2013), based on the true story of the interrogator credited with locating Saddam Hussein after the fall of his regime. After that, Pattinson will head to Australia with Guy Pearce to shoot The Rover, a thriller set in the post-apocalyptic future. It will be directed by David Michod (who wrote and directed 2010's critically acclaimed Aussie film Animal Kingdom).

Like his role in Cosmopolis, this movie doesn't quite fit into a box.

"It's really complicated to explain," Pattinson says, laughing. "I seem to like choosing movies lately that are difficult to promote."

CRONENBERG TALK TO 'MAP TO THE STARS' - ROB,VIGGO AND SYUTING IN LA FOR THE FIRST TIME

  The Playlist And evidently the Cronenberg/Pattinson collaboration has been a mutually beneficial experience as the director and 26-year-old actor are hoping to reteam on Cronenberg's next effort. Titled "Map To The Stars," Cronenberg confirmed to Playlist contributor Aaron Hillis in Cannes that he and Pattinson were hoping to make this their next picture. And the director also revealed that one of his regulars hopes to be on board as well.

"I asked Rob if he would be interested in playing a particular role in it and he said yes, he would. Likewise, Viggo [Mortensen] is interested in a role," Cronenberg said. "It would be very interesting. This is a project called 'Map To The Stars' written by Bruce Wagner who is a wonderful L.A. screenwriter."

Wagner also wrote an adaptation of "As She Climbed Across the Table," a Jonathan Lethem novel that Cronenberg hopes to make one day for Steven Zaillian's Film Rites shingle. As for 'Maps,' it's a movie Cronenberg tried to make five years ago, but the financing fell through. And the director cautions that the new iteration of this project also has yet to be sewn up financially. 

"It's not a go picture. We have a script that I love that Bruce wrote," he said. "It's a very difficult film to get made as was 'Cosmopolis' actually. Whether I can get this movie to happen, I tried it five years ago, I couldn't get it made, so I still might not be able to get it made."

The film is dark comedic drama about two child actors ruined by Hollywood's depravity, and Cronenberg adds that "Maps To The Stars" is " very extreme. It's not obviously a very big commercial movie, and even as an independent film it's difficult. 'Map To the Stars' is completely different [from 'Cosmopolis'], but it's very acerbic and satirical, it's a hard sell."

It's hard to believe, but the internationally renowned filmmaker has shot every film of his in Canada or elsewhere, but never within the United States. That will change if he gets his way on this picture. "Well, 'Maps To The Stars' is an L.A. story and I really felt that is something I could not create on a set in Toronto," he told us. "Whereas the structure of 'Cosmopolis' allows me to create New York on a soundstage in Toronto."

The Canadian-born filmmaker is hoping to make the picture his first U.S. shoot. "I would want to shoot in Los Angeles and I've never shot a foot of film in America," the filmmaker revealed, describing this odd circumstance despite having spent much time south of the Canadian border. "America is very familiar to me since I was kid, my father was born in Baltimore. And it's not like I haven't wanted to, but it's just the weirdness of co-productions and so-on and money things, really -- the expense of shooting in some cities in America. So I actively would like to be shooting in L.A. for at least part of this movie, but once again with budgetary problems... I just don't know if I will be able to, but I would like to." Read in full

THE ROVER DISTRIBUTION NEWS + PRODUCTION DETAILS

  Deadline Cannes, May 21, 2012 – FilmNation Entertainment has acquired the majority of worldwide rights to The Rover from Animal Kingdom writer-director David Michôd (Hesher). Michôd has written the script based on a story he conceived with Joel Edgerton (Zero Dark Thirty, The Great Gatsby).

This deal marks FilmNation’s migration into the acquisition space after ramping up their film investments and development slate. In addition to a full-fledged international sales arm, the banner now effectively develops, finances, and produces projects in-house as well as acquiring filmmaker driven content.

The Rover is set in the Australian desert in a dangerous and dysfunctional near future. Eric has left everything and every semblance of human kindness behind him. When his last possession, his car, is stolen by a gang of dangerous criminals, Eric sets off to track them down and is forced along the way to enlist the help of Reynolds, the naïve simpleton member of the gang left behind in the bloody chaos of the gang’s most recent escape.

David Linde will produce for Lava Bear Films, while Liz Watts will produce for Porchlight Films. Tory Metzger, President of Lava Bear, will oversee the production for the company. The film will also be produced in association with Blue Tongue Films, the directors collective of which Michôd is a member. Production will begin late 2012 in Australia.

Eric Maddox: Well, a team a couple of years ago purchased the rights of my book to turn it into a movie and they took it from there, they got a screenplay, writer Erik Jendresen, the gentleman who wrote Band of Brothers, and got a director and producers and then they just made their decision in May to have Robert Pattinson play the lead part in the movie and ...
Host: He's the heartthrob guy from Twilight.
EM: Correct.
Host: That is pretty awesome. I mean, did you have any say in which Hollywood stag is to play Eric Maddox?
EM: Well, they gave me the final decision. I let them do all the work...like I said, I mean... Afghanistan obviously I was very busy so I let them do what they think is best and I get the final decision and for me it was a no-brainer. I said absolutely! Whatever you did to get that guy to be a part of this movie, I think is wonderful and I fully support it.
Host: Did they have any schedule for filming, any idea when it will hit theaters?
EM: I have no idea when its gonna hit the theaters. They plan on starting the filming at the end of this year. They are currently at the Cannes Film Festival in France selling and I think its all going well. Like I said, I don't have that close hold on all the activities but I believe that is the schedule.

EM: They're going to be scouting locations in Iraq if they make that decision then so be it. The one major request I had is that they keep the story as authentic as possible. The director for the film is Jean-Stephane Sauvaire and he insist on it being authentic and he refuses to put any part of it that is not real and raw and true so that is one thing that they're very encouraged about and I met with Robert Pattinson for 14 hours earlier this month, right when I came back from Afghanistan and that level of commitment. I mean we're talking about a guy who is super famous and really popular and we met for 14 hours and he focused exclusively on the project and want to get down to the nitty gritty of the project and his entire focus was on the project. It wasn't about him or his needs and from that I realized that this is the guy who is dedicated to his work and wanted to put in the hours ...so that's what made me certain that they have built a right team for this.

'Mission: Blacklist’ gets picked for the Middle East and North African (MENA) region

ANOTHER NEW PROJECT FOR ROB? 'HATE MAIL'

Via RPLife In an article about the 'Lawless' afterparty in Cannes, they talk about Michael Benaroya of Benaroya Pictures, producer of the movie, and the movie he's financing. There's a Rob mention. Maybe one of Rob's "five projects"?

Benaroya, who co-produced “Margin Call” last year, is fully financing “Kill Your Darlings,” a $4 million thriller with Daniel Radcliffe and Michael C. Hall about young beat poets Allen Ginsburg and Jack Kerouac and a murder.

And he’s also financing the $11 million “Hate Mail,” with Scarlett Johansson, Robert Pattinson and Philip Seymour Hall. And he executive produced “The Paperboy,” also screening in competition in Cannes.

That's a lot of money to be throwing down. Benaroya, apart from noting that he's only lost money on one movie he's made thus far, said he likes to gamble. 

“I’m a serious poker player," he said. "People like to underestimate me: ‘You look 25. You look like a nice guy. I’m gonna take you for everything you’ve got.’ They’re often surprised when they don’t.” 

If the info in the article is correct, I believe they meant Philip Seymour Hoffman, not Hall.

'THE ROVER' PRODUCER DISCUSSES AND THE MOVIE

Producer Liz Watts is calling David Michod’s new film The Rover “a dirty and dangerous near-future western set in the Australian desert”.

She confirmed what the Internet is buzzing about: that Guy Pearce and Twilight heartthrob Robert Pattinson are in discussions to play, respectively, a man in pursuit of the people who stole his car and the brother of one of the thieves in Michod's follow-up to Animal Kingdom.

Reluctantly, Watts also added a few more details: it is hoped that The Rover will go into production late in the year and discussions about the project started 18 months ago between Michod and US producer David Linde.

Last year Linde opened the production and financing outfit Lava Bear Films with backing from Reliance Entertainment. At the time the company announced it had a first-look deal with Universal Pictures for the US and other significant international territories. Linde was, at one time, co-chair of Universal.

ROB JOINS THE CAST OF 'THE ROVER'

Rob's rep confirms 'The Rover' - from GossipCop

It’s been a big 24 hours for Robert Pattinson.

Gossip Cop has confirmed that the Twilight star has joined The Rover, a film that follows one man’s pursuit through the Australian Outback of the men who stole his car.

His rep confirms the casting to Gossip Cop.

Pattinson will play a character named Reynolds in director David Michod’s movie, which is set in the near future.

ROB TALKS BOUT 'MISSION:BLACKLIST' WITH PREMIEREFR

Robert Pattinson, who is bound to suprise a lot of people in three weeks when Cosmopolis will be presented at Cannes, doesn't seem to want to stop there yet. The 'adult' turn the star star is taking will go further with Mission: Blacklist, the new movie by Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire, director of the impressive Johnny mad Dog in 2008. The movie is a thriller inspired by Eric Maddox's book, the military interrogator who was the brain of the operation that lead to the capture of Saddam Hussein in December 2003. Erik Jendresen, screenwriter for Band of Brothers is in charge of the adaptation, with a shooting that should be starting in the fall.

'We're going to do some scout locations in Iraq soon.'

"As Jean-Stéphane is used to work with non professional actors, I thought I had no chance of getting the role," Robert Pattinson told us recently. "But we met a few times and we clicked. He found a fascinating way to treat that subject. It's weird because it's a movie about war but it's essentially focusing on the interrogations. The language and the barriers he could create played an important role. But it's essentially teh story of a true sldier, Eric Maddox, with who we're leaving for Iraq soon for some scouting.'

"Jean-Stéphane is truly surprising" says Pattinson. "He has talent when it comes to meeting people. Like, for example, out of nowhere, he got to spend some time with the Iraqi Minister of Culture. he also got to meet this guys who was a former chief of the Hussein clan and he was really closed to him. I asked him: 'How do you get to meet a man like that?' He said he met him in a bar in Paris!"

After Johnny Mad Dog, immersed in the every day life of extremely violent kids - turned solders - in Liberia, Sauvaire seems to have found a new subject cut out for his explosive film making technics. "Johnny Mad Dog was an extremely strong piece, that possessed a truly documentary value, while still being cinematic," says Pattinson with enthusiasm. "I cannot wait to work with him on Mission: Blacklist. It's going to be a f***ing good movie."

LOS ANGELES, CA – May 2, 2012 – Robert Pattinson has come on board to star in the upcomingfilm “Mission: Blacklist” with Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire committed to direct. The screenplay was adapted by “Band of Brothers” writer and producer Erik Jendresen from the Harper Collins novel Mission: Black List #1 written by military interrogator Eric Maddox with Davin Seay. Ross M. Dinerstein, Managing Partner of Preferred Content, is producing alongside Jendresen and Kevin Waller.

Embankment Films, the international sales and distribution company recently launched by international sales veterans Tim Haslam and Hugo Grumbar will begin selling the film at the upcoming Cannes Film Market.

”Mission: Blacklist” is a psychological thriller that details the true, inside story of the search for Saddam Hussein and the interrogator, Eric Maddox, who spearheaded his capture.

“This movie is a gripping, edge of your seat thriller,” says Dinerstein. “I have been inspired by Robert and Jean-Stéphane’s dedication to tell this story in the most authentic way possible, and I’m thrilled to add Hugo and Tim to our team.”

Pattinson can next be seen in David Cronenberg’s “Cosmopolis,” which is premiering at the Cannes Film Festival in May. Sauvaire’s last film, “Johnny Mad Dog,” premiered at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival where it won the Prize of Hope.

MADELEINE STOWE TALKS 'UNBOUND CAPTIVES' AND MENTIONS ROB

Q:You are the latest example of a long list of great movie actresses who do their best work in years in television.

A: There is something now that it didn't exist before and is that you can work in both medias, film and television. There is no stigma. Realistically we all know how difficult it is to find work in movies for an actress my age. So I stopped working for a long time. I'm focused on a project that I wrote and pretend to directe, The Unbound Captives, with Hugh Jackman, Rachel Weisz and Robert Pattinson. Now, my greatest interest is the cinematic narrative, rather than being an actress but I'm doing very well with Victoria (her character in Revenge).

MADELEINE STOWE TALKS BOUT 'UNBOUND CAPTIVES' STATUS - FILMING NEXT YEAR?

Madeleine Stowe talked to MySanAntonio about Unbound Captives: 

While at the ranch, Stowe came up with the idea to write "a large romantic Western" that was inspired, she said, by stories of the Hill Country in the late 1800s. "I heard about children who were abducted by Comanche Indians and became so acculturated that they had a hard time returning.


"Our ranch had a real history," she added. "When I lived there, I felt a certain way about Texas that I hadn't seen filmed yet."


She'll start directing The Unbound Captives next year, she said, and already has rounded up the main cast: Hugh Jackman, Rachel Weisz and Robert Pattinson.

He's attached. That means if and when they make it, he's informally committed to be in it. First reported 09.

I spoke to the producer Thursday. Rob is still attached to the project. Now financing has to come together.
