SARAH GADON PRAISES ROB'S ACTING IN COSMOPOLIS + NEW STILL
New Still
MSN Gadon and Pattinson did not rehearse, the idea being that their unfamiliarity would work to their advantage given the unfamiliarity of their characters. That said, I ask what she thinks Pattinson is really good at.
Um, what is Rob really good at?" She chuckles. "He's good at a lot of things! I think he was really great as Eric Packer. And I think that was one thing that kind of surprised me, because I didn't really know him very well. And in real life he's very kind of... I mean, you heard him in the press conference: he's British and he's self-deprecating and he's much more self-conscious [than his character]."
"And then all of a sudden he put on his suit, and this American accent would come out, and he would be so sure of himself and so powerful! And direct! And it was amazing to me to see that transformation of going from himself into Eric Packer. And I think that there's few, few guys right now in the industry who can pull off that kind of powerful masculinity at such a young age."

PAUL GIAMATTI TALKS BOUT ROB AND COSMOPOLIS
Giamatti hadn't worked with Cronenberg before, but he was excited to hear that someone was adapting one of Don DeLillo's novels. The script, with its single very long scene for his character, won him over completely."I thought the script was just bonkers," he says. "And then the part was really interesting. And then it's also 20 minutes long. That doesn't come along very often."Giamatti plays Benno Levin, a deranged man whose encounter with the Wall Street financier played by Robert Pattinson constitutes the final act of Cronenberg's new movie. It was Giamatti's first encounter with the vampire heartthrob."I've never seen the Twilight movies," he admits. "I knew who he was but only vaguely. I didn't even know he was English. When I walked in he was just a guy who was really good and knew what he was doing. He was so ready and in command of it he helped me. It calmed me down and pulled me in."He shot the pivotal scene while making another movie, flying from Miami to Toronto and back again. "I was thinking about it a lot on my own while I was doing that other movie," he says, "and fortunately that other movie was not that demanding on me so I had time. I felt prepared."

JULIETTE BINOCHI TALKS BOUT ROB WITH VANITY FAIR
Let’s talk about your upcoming David Cronenberg–directed film, Cosmopolis, which stars Robert Pattinson. What’s your role?
I’m an art dealer. I only shot two days. The whole film takes place in a car. There are some scenes outside, but mostly it takes place in a limo. Cronenberg placed Robert on one seat, and I was the mover in the scene, so he let me improvise. It was fascinating to see how they would take time to light the car. It was like an art form almost, a painting. His [cinematographer], Peter Suschitzky, is very precise in that way.
Robert was stunned to be taken by Cronenberg, because he didn’t think he could do it. But Cronenberg believed in him. It’s amazing—a director sometimes makes you do bigger things than you imagine. You need to have, like, a midwife to give birth. You need this midwife in order to grow, and imagine these new layers in yourself.

SARAH GADON TALKS BOUT ROB AND COSMOPOLIS WITH FILLER MAGAZINE
Shaking off the reserve demanded by her Dangerous Method role, the actress swaps the inhibitions of her Emma Jung character for the modern liberty of Cosmopolis’s Elise Shifrin, the eccentric poet and heiress, whom 28-year-old Eric Packer (Pattinson) put a ring on not 22 days prior to when the narrative action begins.
“She’s an oddball,” says Gadon of Elise. “When I read the script, I almost thought that she was kind of a hermit, even though she is a socialite, because she’s kind of inaccessible. I almost feel like she’s the type of person that doesn’t see the light of day very often.” Detecting a touch of the Grey Garden recluse in her character, Gadon researched “Big Edie’s” generation of atypical socialites for insight into the enigmatic Elise and her relationship with husband Eric. “She doesn’t really surface, she’s just right under the surface. And, I think her interactions with her husband are all about trying to figure out who he is and what the hell he does. I feel like they’re constantly trying to communicate, but they’re speaking two completely different languages,” the actress explains.

MATHIEU AMALRIC (ANDRE PETRESCU IN COSMOPOLIS) MENTIONS ROB IN NEW INTERVIEW
In fact, Almaric -- best-known to American audiences through his roles in "Munich, "Le Scaphandre et le Papillion" ("The Diving Bell and the Butterfly"), and "Quantum of Solace," has been a director longer than he's been an actor. As a teenager, he took a job as a trainee AD on Louis Malle's "Au Revoir les Enfants" and he won Best Director at Cannes in 2010 for "Tournee." He has also worked with some of France's best directors, of course -- among them Arnaud Desplechin and Alain Resnais -- and he'll next be seen in David Cronenberg's forthcoming "Cosmopolis," playing a "pastry assassin" who creams Robert Pattinson in the face as part of his mission to sabotage power and wealth worldwide. Almaric sat down with The Playlist to talk about his philosophies on- and off-screen, and why he feels an actor is "nothing."
As the pastry assassin, you get to throw a pie in Robert Pattinson's face and then give a six-page monologue.
Cronenberg is very close to the book. And Rob is a great guy. Yeah, yeah -- it's a tough scene. I had to speak in English, and Cronenberg shot it in one sequence, where you do the whole scene in one shot. It was very physical, and I spoke so much. And you're afraid, because it's Cronenberg! [Laughs] But you manage to learn your lines, and I'm always surprised when I manage to be able to say the words in complete order, you know? I don't know how it's possible. But I think it's going to be an amazing film, especially because he shot it in order, exactly as it happens in the book, about a man who gets broken.

JAY BARUCHEL,COSMOPOLIS CO-STAR TALKS BOUT ROB

You'd think any actor would jump at the chance to work in a film that stars Robert Pattinson. Think of the exposure they'd get! However, one of Pattinson's Cosmopolis costars says it wasn't the Twilight hunk that drew him to the film..."Everybody keeps asking me what Pattinson was like," Jay Baruchel told us last night at the premiere if his new film Goon at the Directors Guild in West Hollywood."He's a lovely man, incredibly polite and very disarming, but I was just there because [director] David Cronenberg is my idol," he said. "I got to be directed by my hero and I would have just picked up his dry cleaning, so the fact that I'm in it—I don't even remember what I did. I was just kind of there watching the whole time."In the flick, Baruchel plays a man who starts a tech company alongside Pattinson. And we're surprised to hear none of Baruchel's friends or family begged him to come to set to meet the Breaking Dawn actor."I surround myself with girls who keep their stuff on the DL," he grinned. "So I think my sister kept it to herself."Is Baruchel even a Twilight fan? He laughed, "Not really."Too bad Cronenberg didn't direct one of the Twi-flicksPost : Melin

JAY BARUCHEL TALKS WORKING WITH CRONENBERG AND 'COSMOPOLIS'
MTV While promoting "Goon," a film he stars in and co-wrote, Jay Baruchel shared his experiences working for a short period of time on the Manhattan set of "Cosmopolis." Unfortunately for the Pattinson fans out there, according to Baruchel, Cronenberg's next movie might be too strange for them.
"An exceedingly strange movie," Baruchel said, describing "Cosmopolis." "All the Team Edward girls won't be seeing this one, I don't think."
For Baruchel, working with Cronenberg — who made a name for himself with horror films — was a dream come true. "Basically, it was that Cronenberg is a hero of mine. I'm a Canadian boy. I love horror. That's all I want to do," Baruchel said. "If you're a Canadian horror fan, Cronenberg's the Holy Grail."
The opportunity for Baruchel came about in a rather mundane way, but his reaction to it was anything but. "I was in Manhattan last year, keeping my lady company, and they called up and were like, 'Hey, do you want to do two days on this new Cronenberg?' I said, 'Yep!' 'Wait, wait. We'll send you the script.' I couldn't care less; what I'm playing is a means to an end. I just want to go and film-nerd-out about 'Videodrome' with him for two days."
The actual experience of working with Cronenberg did not disappoint. "Not only did I get to go and be a fly on the wall for two days and watch one of my heroes do his thing, I actually had the pleasure being directed by him," Baruchel said. "Coolest thing ever."

JULIETTE BINOCHE TALKS BOUT FILMING COSMOPOLIS,MENTIONS ROB
Juliette Binoche spoke with Madame Figaro about Cosmopolis.
Translation: What do you do in Cosmopolis, the next David Cronenberg?
I make love in the limo! Belonging to Robert Pattinson, fabulously wealthy man who wants it all and loses it all! It sounds like Cronenberg, doesn't it? Director of photography, Peter Suschitzky, lights up each shot like a painting. Robert and I were alone in the car with a camera and a microphone, and we could hear David's voice coming from a distance: we would redo a take, then another one, etc. There was something clinical about it, which for me was a change from Amos Gitai or Abel Ferrara.
Original transcript:

ROB'S CO-STARS TALKS BOUT HIM, BEL AMI, AND COSMOPOLIS
Christina Ricci talks about working with Rob in 'Bel Ami' (full article at the source)

Besides being busy with Pan Am, Ricci has finished filming the movie Bel Ami, which is based on French author Guy de Maupassant's 1885 novel of the same name. Opening here on March 29, it also stars Uma Thurman, Robert Pattinson and Kristin Scott Thomas.About Pattinson, Ricci would say only that the Twilight heart-throb, who plays the corrupt protagonist Georges Duroy, was an "amazing" guy to work with.
Juliette Binoche talked about filming with Cronenberg and her character in Cosmopolis (source/google translate/via)

Can you tell us about the filming of Cosmopolis, David Cronenberg?I play an art saleswoman who has sex with a rich young man, played by Robert Pattinson, who is trying to sell her paintings. I shot two days, in a highly cronenberguien, that is to say quite distant while shooting, but warm at the start and finish. It was in front a green background, in a limousine with a camera directed at a distance, David talked through a microphone. At first I was intoxicated with the idea of playing a sort of berserk. But at the end of the scene, she finds herself in a lonely miserable. Leaving the movie, I felt badly. And that’s exactly what David wanted to tell: the illusion of prosperity and the sense of a world that falls and loses

Sarah Gardon talk about Cosmopolis and Rob with Total Film

Sarah Gadon: Not initially. But then the fans began to find out where Robert was, so it became a bit of a circus. But one of the benefits of Rob's fame is that it brings attention to people like David and films like Comopolis. The tabloid stuff I don't really care about.

SARAH GADON TALKS BOUT ROB'S FANS
GS: Who’s got crazier fans – well, let’s call them ‘passionate’ fans, Viggo Mortensen or Robert Pattinson?
SG: You know I thought it would be Rob, but then when we were in Venice Viggo has some diehard fans, and they just they love him! They freak out for him. But you know Rob doesn’t even have fans … he has this like, CIA. They know where he is, they know everything, they know every detail – they’re on it, so….
GS: That means you’re in it! You know we have a photograph here – every time there’s a photo of you and him together … [this is actually a great shot of the two of you in a scene] …when you get caught up in that, does your life change at all, in any way?
SG: Well, I think when we were shooting I made a really strong effort to not pay attention to any press, or anything, because you’re so involved in your characters and in your work, and you don’t want anything on the outside to inform this working relationship that you’re creating, and so I really tried to block that out, but then afterwards when the shooting finished and people kept saying things to me I kind of thought wow you know – maybe that really was a whirlwind that we were caught up in.

PATRICIA MACKENZIE, KENDRA IN COSMOPOLIS, TALKS WORKING WITH ROB
CosmopolisItalia talked to Patricia Mckenzie (who plays Eric Packer's bodyguard in Cosmopolis). Here's an excerpt of the interview where she talks about her scenes with Rob...
CI: In “Cosmopolis” you play Kendra Hays, Can you tell us something about her? Who is Kendra?
PM: Kendra is an exhibitionist who craves power and wants to dominate Eric Packer (Robert Pattinson) sexually. She was initially hired to be his bodyguard, but quickly becomes his lover. They are opposites in many ways, but both are hollow inside and searching for meaning in their existence. Ultimately, they risk leaving each other feeling as empty as they started.
CI: Did you give any workout tips to Robert Pattinson? How about your own workout schedule?
PM: Our love scene happened one month ahead of schedule so neither of us had time to get in the exact shape we wanted to be in, but I did a juice fast three days prior, and he went to the pub and drank a beer. Rob already has an incredible screen presence that comes easily to him, so he is very relaxed about how he appears.
A few months before we started shooting, I started boxing and combat training and I did a 3 week detox. It was something I always wanted to try, so I used the film as my motivation. I really enjoyed the process and have integrated the healthy eating and the boxing into my lifestyle.
CI: One of your scene involves you shooting Robert with a taser gun..did something funny happened that day? can you tell us something about it?
PM: For me the funny thing was that everyone approached the scene with no idea what was going to happen, but to be ready for anything. David, Robert and I explored it together, the way we might do if it were a play. We thought we had it nailed down, so we took a lunch break for the crew to light the scene. Then, after lunch, David said he wanted to shoot the scene a different way so the crew took time to re-light everything and Robert and I had time to bond a bit more before we started shooting the love scene. The result is amazing, very sexy, tense and humorous. I can’t really say what happens with the taser, you will have to see the movie to find out!

SARAH GADON TALKS BOUT WORKING WITH ROB AND COSMOPOLIS
Robert Pattinson, who will marry Kristen Stewart in "Breaking Dawn" this November, is also set to wed Sarah Gadon in David Cronenberg's "Cosmopolis." And, as Gadon revealed to MTV News, it's going be a very interesting journey for the newlyweds in the film.
"I think it's a really interesting film, and I don't want to give away too much, but I think in a really kind of pared-down version of the film, it's about a young millionaire who loses everything in the course of a day," New Class-er Gadon said.
"I play his new wife, so I'm one of the only characters that comes in and out of the story throughout the film. We have breakfast, lunch and dinner together, and those are going to be some interesting meals."
Having already worked with Cronenberg on the Freudian flick "A Dangerous Method," Gadon said she was fully aware what she was getting herself into, so watching Pattinson get into the director's dangerous method proved to be quite interesting.
"For me, it was really interesting and great to work with Rob at this point in his career," she said. "And I think David Cronenberg is a fabulous director, and to see Rob meet with David at this point in his journey as an artist was really special for me to watch.
"I think when you work with David Cronenberg, it's a really exciting and liberating and, at the same time, terrifying experience. And it was really great, having worked with David, to watch somebody new go through that ... I think it's really great for [Pattinson] to have chosen this role and be a part of our film."

KEVIN DURAND TALKS ROB AND COSMOPOLIS "HE'S GOT AND EDGE TO HIM IN THIS FILM"
MTV News caught up with "Cosmopolis" co-star Kevin Durand at the premiere of "Real Steel" over the weekend, and he had nothing but rave reviews for both the film and its leading man.
"It's awesome. We're just in postproduction right now. It's incredibly exciting," Durand said. "Robert is a very gracious, kind fella, and we had a great time [filming]. We had a really great time."
When asked what new sides of Pattinson's acting abilities we'll see in the film, Durand said we'll see an edgier, more adult version of the "Twilight" star. "He's got an edge to him in this film," Durand said. "He did some really excellent work that I think he should be very proud of."
The "Real Steel" and "I Am Number Four" actor went on to say that given the subject matter and action in the plot, the film will have a more adult rating and that fans should be very excited to see it.
"[It takes place] in present day, but it's its own time and place," he explained. "Mr. Cronenberg has such an amazing voice. I myself am just as excited, probably more excited, than anyone else to see it, just to see what he's done with it."
