DigitalSpyUK Kristen Stewart's On the Road has been confirmed for a UK cinemas release later this year.
The film, based on Jack Kerouac's acclaimed Beat Generation novel, is to debut in the UK on September 21 through Lionsgate. On the Road sees Sam Riley play Kerouac's alter ego Sal Paradise, who embarks on a cross-country road trip with his friend Dean Moriarty (Garrett Hedlund). Stewart takes on the role of Mary Lou, with Kirsten Dunst starring as Camille and Viggo Mortensen as Old Bull Lee.
Hedlund has claimed that Stewart's portrayal of Mary Lou in the film is "incredible". Mortesen recently suggested to Digital Spy that director Walter Salles's movie will debut at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival in May. A US release date for On the Road is yet to be confirmed.
